Pep Rally/Thanksgiving

Pep Rally/Thanksgiving

Pep Rally

  1. Middle school students need to get dismissed at 10am on Wednesday and head to the high school so that they can perform at the pep rally with the marching band. Both Mr. Downs and Mr. Tucci have already been notified on what students are involved. Students must be in school Wednesday (no staying home and just showing up at the high school) and can get dismissed at 10am so that they can get to the high school by 10:30am. All students must bring in a note on Wednesday and give it to the main office. My email will prevent the early dismissal from counting against them, but your note is required for them to leave the building. Most middle schoolers carpool as they are all leaving the same place at the same time and heading to the same location.
  2. They are to wear their white band tshirt and blue jeans. (footwear of their choice)
  3. Once the pep rally is over we will have rehearsal and run through the music for Thanksgiving in the gym from around 12:30-2:30pm. Than students can get picked up and enjoy the rest of the night off.

Thanksgiving Day

  1. Arrive at Medford High School at 8am. We will get dressed into our uniform, grab our penguin jackets (large sleeping bag like jackets that go over our uniforms) instruments and load the bus to head to Malden.
  2. Game starts at 10am at McDonald Stadium, Malden, MA
  3. We will be playing stand tunes throughout the game and we will be performing our full show at half time.
  4. Per usual it is going to be very cold. Please wear warm layers underneath your band uniform so that when we perform at halftime, you are warm enough. In the past students have found that tights, nylons, leggings and long underwear work best. Anything tight fitting that will trap in body heat. You will have a penguin jacket to wear over your uniform and while in the stands may also wear hats, gloves and scarfs as long as they don’t interfere with your playing. It is also a good idea to bring a blanket or sleeping back to help block out cold and wind.
  5. Colorguard you will be wearing your colorguard sweatpants and track jackets when you perform instead of your uniforms. Please contact Jackie with any questions.
  6. We will stay for the ENTIRE game. No one is allowed to leave after halftime, as we need to continue playing for the second half of the game.
  7. This is a very fun event full of school spirit where we get to cheer on our team and perform for our out of town family and band alumni!
  8. Students will take the bus back to Medford high school after the game and will be free to leave once their uniform is hung up correctly.
